Holistic & Functional Psychology (HFP) is an innovative, transdisciplinary approach to human growth, transformation, and thriving. Rather than focusing on illness, it focuses on cultivating the conditions that help people become, and stay, well.

What is Holistic & Functional Psychology?

Holistic & Functional Psychology is an innovative approach to mental and emotional well-being that I created to address what’s often missing in traditional therapy.

 

Drawing from Functional Medicine and holistic, systemic thinking, it brings together the many factors essential to human thriving: sleep, nutrition, hydration, stress resilience, movement, nervous system regulation, purpose, values, meaning, and a connection to spirituality or the higher self. In short, it combines science, body, and soul.

While conventional therapy often focuses on thoughts, emotions, and relationships, this approach expands the lens.

 

Why? Because mental and emotional health are inseparable from physical health, spirituality, lifestyle, and the environments we live in.

 

I developed Holistic & Functional Psychology to meet the growing need for deeper, more integrative mental health care: one that doesn’t just help people cope, but helps them grow beyond mental illness and thrive. At its core, this approach asks:  “What makes people resilient, empowered, and naturally well?”

The answer? A life grounded in spiritual connection, a sense of purpose, supportive relationships, and embodied self-care.

 

When you focus on what makes you well as opposed to what’s wrong, your symptoms can naturally resolve on their own.

How HFP Works

We’ll begin with my Holistic Mental Wellness Questionnaire to gain a full picture of your current well-being. From there, we’ll combine your intentions with my expertise to identify the areas that matter most to you and create a personalized plan for healing and growth.

Together, we’ll set initial goals and work systematically to support the aspects of your life that impact your mental and emotional health. This may include:

  • Movement and physical activity
     

  • Nutrition, hydration, and gut health
     

  • Sleep, restoration, and stress resilience
     

  • Relationships and boundaries
     

  • Life purpose, values, and a connection to spirituality and your higher self

 

This process is never one-size-fits-all. It’s a dynamic, evolving collaboration rooted in what you need most at each stage of your journey.

My intention is to support you in becoming so empowered and resourced that you no longer need my help… because you’ll have the tools, clarity, and resilience to care for yourself and live a life that feels deeply meaningful.

The Holistic & Functional Psychology Method is the result of over a decade of experience in health, wellness, psychology, and integrative counseling.

Her approach is deeply informed by both professional training and personal experience. After facing a years-long battle with chronic illness, Emma applied many of the very tools she now teaches to help herself heal.
